Job Description
FSS Construction Managers are trusted and empowered with a high level of responsibility. The Construction Manager facilitates the highest level of client experience from the beginning through the end of the project. They will oversee all phases of small construction projects and remodels from assignment through completion, ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires executing both field operations and office-related project management tasks.

Required Skills and Experience

5 years+ of experience in residential home repair and remodel, maintenance and installation

Skilled in all types of remodel and home repair

Ability to diagnose issues and come up with effective solutions for a range of tasks, often on the spot.

Creative thinking to resolve unique or complex challenges.

Customer Service Skills:

Communication: Clear and effective communication with clients to understand their needs, explain solutions, and provide updates.

Relationship Building: Building trust with clients, encouraging repeat business and referrals.

Conflict Resolution: Addressing complaints or issues diplomatically, maintaining professionalism.

Ability to read blueprints and specifications for building

General computer, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, Procore a plus

Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems

Knowledge of building materials, tools, and machines

Valid driver’s license

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:
-
Plan, organize, and direct project work from initiation to completion; OWN each project.
-
Assist with and approve project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely completion.

Coordinate and manage project resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.

Monitor expenses, and ensure cost control, track change orders.
-
Communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, deliverables, and timelines.

Perform risk management and problem-solving to address project delays, design changes, or budget issues.
-
Updating client and management with budget updates on a timely basis.
-
Negotiating, writing, and reviewing all subcontracts and purchase orders.

Overseeing the change management process and integrating them into budget revisions and client invoices.

Reviewing, approving of cost code invoices to insure timely billing.

Reviewing and approving applications for payment/invoices.

Superintendent Responsibilities:
-
Self-perform on-site construction operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications. This is a “bags on” role, with the FSS Construction Manager either doing the work completely on their own or physically working with FSS carpenters and laborers, depending on the size of the project.

Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and construction workers, if applicable, ensuring effective communication and coordination.

Monitor project progress and resolve issues as they arise.

Follow and enforce project safety protocols on-site, conducting safety meetings and adhering to safety guidelines.

Maintain daily logs, timecards and documentation of project progress, site activities, and any incidents.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis for an 8-hour day

Ability to lift 50 lbs., including overhead

Ability to perform physical and repetitive motions

Requires vision and hearing capabilities
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position, Monday-Friday. Fairbank Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The hourly range for this position is $40-50 per hour

7 Paid Holidays per Year (plus Veteran’s Day if you are a military veteran)
